Our Bespoke Jewellery Service

Every bespoke commission begins with a conversation and a sketchbook. From there it's a journey through drawing, material study, stone selection, and the hands of craftspeople we've worked with for years, until something exists that's entirely your own and could have come from nowhere else.

Since 2009 we've been creating bespoke engagement rings, wedding bands, commitment rings and one-of-a-kind jewels for people who care about what their jewellery's made of, who made it, and what it will mean in thirty years. Each bespoke commission is designed by award-winning Arabel Lebrusan and realised in independent craft workshops across London's Hatton Garden, using Fairmined Ecological Gold, Recycled+ precious metals and responsibly sourced gemstones chosen for their character and their provenance.

Bespoke wedding rings begin at £2,000. Bespoke engagement rings and one-of-a-kind commissions begin at £5,000.

What bespoke means here

The bespoke experience at Lebrusan Studio can tread all number of paths; it all depends on where we begin.

We might start from scratch - developing a brand new design through drawing and material study with inspiration from your brief, your budget and the story you want the jewel to tell.

We might work from an existing design - adjusting a proportion, reconsidering a stone or adding an engraving that transports a blueprint from the collection into the realm of csutom design.

You might bring us something inherited: a stone, a piece of gold, a ring that bears sentimental weight but no longer fits the life of the person who wears it. From here, we'll draw on our expertise in remodelling to reimagine it as something new.

Wherever your starting point, our work is the same: considerate and considered.

A small selection of the work that's left this studio - and the stories behind the designs

Tarik: engineering a perfect fit

Tarik came to us seeking a halo solitaire with a pear-shaped diamond of around 1.5ct, set in 18ct rose gold. The brief was clear in its essentials but open in its form, which is where the real work begins.

A stone of this size and cut can easily end up sitting too tall on the finger, the setting thrusting it further from the hand than it should. From experience I knew the proportions needed to be resolved before anything was crafted - not adjusted afterwards. That's why we began by scanning the diamond itself. A pear-shaped stone has a curved belly on its underside, and a standard setting template cannot account for that unique curve. By scanning the stone first we were able to build the setting around the exact contours of that specific diamond, cradling it from beneath rather than forcing it into a generic mount. The result is a ring that sits closer to the finger, feels more secure in wear, and looks considered from every angle.

Rose gold was Tarik's choice, and - in my opinion - a good one. Warm in tone, it creates a striking contrast against a very white diamond in a way that yellow or white gold does not. The white of the stone against the blush of the gold is what lends this ring its romantic character. The Art Nouveau forms of the setting, sinuous and organic, felt like the natural language for a piece built around a stone with so much presence. It's the kind of detail we might not notice consciously, but feel instinctively.

Damir: a bracelet that grew with a family

Damir came to us wanting to mark the birth of his children in a medium that would endure. The result was two bracelets - one for him and one for her - each strung with baroque keshi Tahitian pearls from French Polynesia. These are natural black pearls grown without a nucleus, irregular in shape and impossible to replicate. Finding enough pearls of the right quality to make two matched bracelets took time and patience.

The first bracelet was made with two initials and two birthstones; an amethyst and a peridot. When their third child arrived, we added a third initial and a garnet to honour their January birthday. The bracelet simply grew, as families do.

What makes this commission particularly close to my heart is that it's part of something larger. Over the years I have built a vocabulary of forms for Damir and his partner, using motifs from their own bridal design as a thread that runs through everything we have made together. Their jewellery tells a continuous story. At its best, that's the role that bespoke jewellery plays.

Lenny: an old soul in a new setting

Lenny came to us with two things: a jaw-dropping 1920s cocktail ring inherited from his grandmother, and plans to propose to his partner Madeline. After a bespoke consultation, our design team presented hand-drawn blueprints for Lenny to consider. He chose a design whose intricate milgrain beading offers understated vintage charm, with a fan of marquise diamonds either side of the centrepiece offering a playful nod to the original ring's flamboyant Art Deco character.

De-setting the impressive 2.43ct octagon-cut emerald and salvaging six undamaged marquise diamonds from the original piece, our master craftsman Theo rehomed them in a recycled rose gold mount. A new jewel with an old soul and a small environmental footprint.

Engraving and personal details

Engraving has long been an integral aspect of our practice. Designs may be adapted with repeating motifs, personal symbols or discreet wording so meaning can be worn proudly or held privately. Small details - a deep score, a fine line, a gemstone encased in a star - often become the most enduring traits of a jewel.

HOW IT WORKS

Consultation

FACE-TO-FACE OR VIRTUAL

You do not need to arrive with a fully formed idea. An initial spark of inspiration, a sense of your budget and an openness to talk is a great place to begin. A bespoke consultation is collaborative and exploratory; a time to discuss vision, precious materials and practical considerations before any design work begins. Consultations take place face to face at our London studio or virtually.

Design

FROM IDEAS TO FORM

Following your consultation, our design team - trained in both hand-drawn and CAD techniques - develops your exclusive designs in the format best suited to the piece and its level of detail. You will be presented with a small number of considered variations, allowing space to reflect before one design is selected and further refined. Up to two major revisions are welcomed for free, ensuring the final design evolves thoughtfully rather than through haste.

Creation

BRINGING YOUR VISION TO LIFE

Once your design is finalised, a 50% deposit initiates the making process. Your jewel is crafted by master artisans working in independent workshops across London's Hatton Garden. Crafting an heirloom typically takes around ten weeks, reflecting the care and skill involved at each stage. On completion, the remaining balance is requested before your finished jewel is carefully delivered.

Remodelling heirloom jewellery

Inherited jewellery carries history and emotional weight. It deserves more than a life in a drawer.

Through our remodelling service we transform treasured pieces into contemporary jewels designed to be worn, loved and passed on again. Whether working with inherited stones, reusing gold from an existing piece, or merging old materials with new, we approach remodelling with sensitivity, respect and expert care.

If you have an old diamond that has lost its sparkle, a simple refurbish can help restore its shine. Even with a score of 10 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, diamonds are vulnerable to damage over lifetimes of wear. With expert hands and a thorough polish we can remove years of residue and scratches. You should expect to lose roughly 0.1ct of weight in refurbishing, but your old stone will emerge from the process looking good as new, ready to take on the world all over again.

Our remodelling service also presents the opportunity to create a brand new jewel with minimal need for new materials, small in carbon footprint whilst significant in sentimental value. In our current state of climate emergency, celebrating materials already above the ground is not just a romantic idea, but the right thing to do.

"Working with Arabel was a total joy. The finished piece is sensational and everything I wanted." - Pamela, London
