Top tips for ensuring your jewellery remains in great condition:
Your Lebrusan Studio jewellery will arrive in carefully sourced packaging of recyclable or reusable components. We recommend storing your jewellery in its original box for longevity. Here's a breakdown of the rest, to ensure its environmental impact is minimal when you're finished with it.
Postal box
Your postal box is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)®-certified corrugated cardboard sourced from a forest where no more wood is cut down than that forest can reproduce. The sturdy nature of this box lends itself to repurposing; perhaps you could use it as storage, or to send a delivery of your own? If you’re finished with it, please remove all of its postage stickers (since these cannot be recycled), flatten it, and dispose of it as per your local authority’s system for recycling dry cardboard.
Jewellery box
Your branded Lebrusan Studio jewellery box is a keepsake, designed not just to deliver your jewellery, but as a storage solution moving forwards. Ring boxes are handy for transportation, keeping your jewellery safe when you take it off for housework, sports or manual labour, and protecting it from tarnishing during periods of non-wear. Should you decide your box is surplus to requirement, why not gift it to somebody else who might find it useful? Alternatively, the box itself is made from FSC-certified card and paper and is easily recycled. However, its faux suede lining and foam cushion is not recyclable, so must be removed first.
Tissue paper
This tissue paper is a mix of 70% FSC®-certified product and 30% recycled paper. It’s also free of chloride and acids, which are detrimental to the environment in large quantities. The short fibres of tissue paper do not lend themselves to successful recycling, however. Instead of throwing it away, you could repurpose it as wrapping paper or DIY decorations. Alternatively, tissue paper is compostable, its highly absorbent nature soaking up water and helping to minimise the smell of compost heaps and house plants whilst it breaks down.
Metallic sticker
Unfortunately, not many adhesives are recyclable. Please dispose of your sticker in general waste or find a new use for it. Its surface can be written on with pens and permanent markers!
Business card
We use a printing house called Solopress because they were among the world’s first commercial printers to adopt vegetable-based inks as an alternative to petroleum-based products, which derive from a non-renewable source and are known to release volatile organic compounds that contribute to global warming. Meanwhile, vegetable inks derive from natural, renewable sources like corn oil or soybean oil. This card is uncoated and easily recyclable.
To clean silver, use a soft cloth or a silver polishing cloth in anti- varnish bag or pouch.
Alternatively you can leave your jewellery to soak in a bowl of warm water with a mild liquid detergent before cleaning with a soft bristle toothbrush. Rinse under running water and use a soft cloth to dry the piece. This also applies to gold and platinum jewellery.
Check regularly for signs of wear and tear as stone settings can become loose over time.
Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on Earth but they need special care to maintain brilliance. If you wear your ring every day, it'll get dirty; lotions, hairsprays and makeup will create a thin layer on your stone making it look dull. Why? It's simple; a diamond’s sparkle originates from the light entering, travelling to the bottom and reflecting back to the eye. If it's dirty, light will be restricted. To bring your stone back to life, fill a bowl with warm to hot water and washing up liquid. Let the stone soak for 20-40 minutes, brush the stone with of a soft-bristled toothbrush. Kids' toothbrushes are usually softer, which makes them perfect for cleaning diamonds! Keep this toothbrush separate from your other cleaning brushes and use it only to tend to your jewellery. This way, it will stay soft and clean.
