Men's wedding bands

A simple guide, for those unsure of where to begin...

Which is the men's wedding ring finger?

In the UK and a number of other western cultures, the wedding band is traditionally worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. This romantic custom stems from Ancient Rome, when it was believed that the vein in this finger (the 'Vena Amoris') ran straight to the heart. We can help you decide on the right ring size for this finger.

What's the best metal for a men's wedding ring?

Aesthetically, the choice is all yours; pick whatever feels most comfortable. lt's just important to bear metal hardness in mind. Your ring should be strong enough to withstand daily wear, especially if you're an active person. We recommend a metal no less durable than platinum or 18ct gold.

How much does a wedding ring cost?

Wedding bands vary in price based on factors such as metal type, band width and ring size. Simple designs are valued largely on their metal content, whilst specialist craftsmanship like hand-engraving is of course charged accordingly too. Our wedding rings range from £450 to £6,000, with our custom wedding rings start at £1,500.

Otherwise known as the ‘comfort fit’ is the Court band, curved slightly on both the inside and outside. This inner-band curvature makes the band comfortable to take on and off the finger; ideal if you aren't used to wearing rings.

For a sleek and contemporary look, the Flat and Flat Court shapes boast streamlined outers. The Flat bands are levelled both inside and out, whilst the Flat Court rings offer that comfortable, curved inner.

Ethical gold men's wedding bands with soft-hammered and hard-hammered finishes

Hammered men's wedding rings

If you're drawn to jewellery with rustic, home-spun charm, you might appreciate a hammered finish; the perfect way to knock some charisma into the classic gold wedding band! Achieved by careful taps with a small, hand-held hammer, this organic technique leaves no two rings looking the same the same.

Hammered wedding bands are also pretty forgiving in the long run, as the can take on day-to-day knocks without giving too much away.

Matte wedding rings

We can round off any of our wedding rings with the finish of your choice, neither at any additional cost.

A polished finish is a timeless classic; clean and traditional.

A matte finish can be easily achieved by a once-over with a green scouring sponge - just like how Arabel was taught at jewellery school! A more contemporary take, the matte finish offers a diluted, satiny sheen. Similar to our hammered finishes, a band with a matte texture is merciful to small scratches and scuffs.

A flat men's wedding band finished with black rhodium plating and hard hammering

Black wedding bands

Forget the negative connotations - black needn't represent doom and gloom. In fact, black is believed by many to symbolise courage, strength and conviction.

We love coating hard-hammered rings with black rhodium plating. When the plating slowly starts to wear away, what's left is a two-tone distressed effect. With no two rings ever winding up the same, this is the epitome of unique - well-loved and personal to you.
